A FEW WORDS ABOUT "THE 5TH WHEEL"

Change brings out the crazy in people, and Agoura High School Theatre Department’s 2020-2021 student-directed original production will make you feel relieved you’re not as crazy as its featured characters. This year, in the face of pandemic-induced adversity, Agoura High School’s respected annual Student Directed Production takes a new form: an original TV show. The AHS theatre department invites you to attend the virtual premiere of the proud product of its 2020 losses: The 5th Wheel.

Here’s the plot: what happens when outsider, uber control-freak, psycho Hannah loses her entire friend group after her only real friend suddenly dies? Well... Hannah secretly steals her dead friend’s ashes and coerces everyone else to go on a road trip to make them still-and-always be friends…all while avoiding their dead friend’s mother. Just your typical high-school drama!

After multiple Agoura High School theatre productions were cancelled (thanks to COVID-19), this production rose from their ashes. The student directors created and implemented meticulous safety protocols mirroring official entertainment industry guidelines, including a mandatory quarantine period for the cast and crew prior to filming. These protocols kept everyone involved in the production as safe and secure as possible while on set.
This production goes to show how adaptable Agoura students can be, even when a quickly-changing world makes everyone feel as crazy as The 5th Wheel’s characters.
